Barcelona’s music bars could have live bands in 2008

The Barcelona government is modifying the laws so that music bars can program concerts. Sounds good. By 2008 music bars in Barcelona could be program live music acts, an activity which up until today has not been permitted by current legislation. The governement has decided to modify this and allow live music acts. There are over 190 music bars currently in Barcelona, which will benefit from this change. If everything goes according to plan, the consortium predicts that by January the new law will be approved and by February made effective!

To all music bar owners in Barcelona, we keep our fingers crossed for you! And to all music lovers, this may be a new turn in Barcelona nightlife… What about DJs? This is one doubt that the minister of culture has to solve: “Is it an artist or simply something reproducing music?. Jordi Martí says “This is one of the next points we have to take a look at”.
