Hotel 54 Barceloneta

Hotel 54 Barceloneta will open its door in the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona in August this year. Located in the building where the fisherman’s organization had its residence.The Hotel 54 Barceloneta will open in the emblematic district of Barceloneta, located infront of the sea and only 10 minutes from Las Rambls. This is the first hotel project of the businessmen Joan Guals and Casto Portillo and the value of the purchase has been situated at 3 million euros.

The entrepreneurs have purchased the project from the dutch VROOM group, which has a rental agreement of 25 years duration, with a purchasing option. The current owners of the hotel project, intend to create a boutique hotel which will have 28 bedrooms with a 3 star rating.

The most important characteristic of this new hotel project is its complimentary offers. On the ground floor, future guests will find a “local de copas��? (drinks lounge bar) with sea views which will be one more venue to add onto Barcelona’s extensive nightlife list of venues. Under the boutique hotel label, many current hotels in Barcelona operate very successfully. Hotel 54 Barceloneta will join other boutique hotels in Barcelona, such as Omm, La Florida, Cram and Camper, and Casa Fuster.

This is traditionally a neighbourhood of fishermen, but the historical evolution of the city has transformed Barceloneta into the neighbourhood of beaches. Since 1992 Barcelona has opened up to the sea, knocking down old buildings and creating new terraces and restaurants and a new promenade where luxury yachts moor. The beaches were cleaned and arranged, converting Barcelona into a typical maritime city.

A cable car goes from this neighbourhood to Montjuïc Castle, offering spectacular views of the city. Walking across this neighbourhood or following the beach round we reach the breakwater with viewing restaurants at each end, the delight of all lovers of seafood.
