Prices in bars rise 5% this year

January 14, 2008

Bars and Restaurants in SpainThe prices in bars and restaurants in Spain will rise by at least 5% this year compared to last years prices. The rising prices is mainly due to the more expensive raw materials and the revised salaries, according to the Spanish federation of hospitality (FEHR).

This federation represents around 340,000 businesses in Spain. They foresee a drastic rise in prices over the next years, which will mean prices are going to adapt to the rest of the European Union.

Time will tell if salaries will also be adaptaed to the rest of the European Union. Currently workforce in Spain in bars have salaries around 1,000€ whereas in London or Paris this could easily be 3-5 times as much!
